KILDUFF 1981 On his membered by Uncle 560 8 Aunt Joan Dr. Marvin Herbert Orthopedie surgeon, 48 Dr. S. Marvin, Herbert, 48, a surgeon who headed the orthopedic department at Cambridge City Hospital, died Saturday at his Mt. Auburn street home in Cambridge, following a long illness.
Dr. Herbert also did bone research at MIT and was a consulting surgeon at Somerville Hospital and Central Hospital in Somerville. Among his colleagues, Dr. Herbert was known as "Flash" because of his skill and expert surgical speed. He was also an accomplished bridge player, and held the title of life master of bridge.
Dr. Herbert was appointed assistant director of the hospital orthopedic department at Cambridge City Hospital in 1976 and chief of that department in December 1978. Born in Everett, Dr. Herbert was graduated from Boston Latin School, Harvard College in 1953, and Tufts Medical School in 1957. He served his internship at New England Medical Center and his surgical residency at Cambridge City Hospital.
He later became an orthopedic fellow at Boston City Hospital and served his orthopedic residency at Lahey Clinic, Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Springfield, and Boston City Hospital. He was a member of the Board of Diplomats of Orthopedic Surgeons. He leaves his wife, Florence Roberta (Tellier); a son, Scot, and father, Nathan Herbert of Arlington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Stanets Stanetsky-Schlossberg-Solomon Memorial Chapel, Brookline.
Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Abraham Brody, 69 Owned furniture company NEW BEDFORD Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Congregation Tisereth Israel for Abraham Brody, 69, who died yesterday in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, after a long illness.
Mr. Brody was president for many years of the Congregation Shel Emes, New Bedford. He was past president and owner of the now defunct Star Furniture New Bedford, having worked there for 34 years. After leaving Star Furniture, he became manager of Baron Bros. Furniture Taunton.
He retired four years ago. Mr. Brody came to this country from Poland at age 11. He was graduated from New Bedford High School and has lived most of his life in New Bedford. He, leaves his wife, Marcella (Baron); two daughters, Frayda Faigel of Chestnut Hill and Cynthia Carter of Framingham; a son, Dennis Brody of Chestnut Hill; a brother, Louis Brody of New Bedford; and eight grandchildren.
W. Alan Wile, 46 p.m. Retired major in Marine Corps W. Alan Wile, 46, a retired major in the Marine Corps, formerly of Lowell, died of cancer Friday in his home in Virginia Beach, Va. He was born in Boston and was graduated from Moody Junior High School in Lowell and from St.
Paul's School in Concord, N.H. While a junior at Middlebury College he enlisted in the Marines and served with them for 23 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired with the rank of major two years ago. Maj. Wile was a former member of St.
Anne's Episcopal Church in Lowell. He leaves his wife, Elaine (Abbott); a daughter, Julia Wile of Asheville, N.C.: a son, W. Alan Wile USN, attached to the USS Independence: a sister, Rosamond Gifford of Boston; and his father, Horace E. Wile of Falmouth. Memorial committal services will be held Friday at 2 p.m.

She graduated from Reading High School in 1976 and from Suffolk University cum laude in 1980 as a journalism major. Since September she had been working for the National Park Service in Boston. Miss LoConte was born in Malden and lived most of her life in Reading.
